Info on Avocado

Avocado has sometimes received a "bad rap" as a vegetable too high in fat. While it is true that avocado is a high-fat food (about 85% of its calories come from fat), the fat contained in avocado is unusual and provides research-based health benefits. The unusual nature of avocado fat is threefold. First are the phytosterols that account for a major portion of avocado fats. These phytosterols are key supporters of our inflammatory system that help keep inflammation under control. • Second are avocado's polyhydroxylated fatty alcohols (PFAs). PFAs also provide us with anti-inflammatory benefits. • Third is the unusually high amount of a fatty acid called oleic acid in avocado. Over half of the total fat in avocado is provided in the form of oleic acid—a situation very similar to the fat composition of olives and olive oil. As a monounsaturated fatty acid, it has also been shown to help lower our risk of heart disease. So don't be fooled by avocado's ba

Magic of volunteering

Memorable incident which happened recently. Thought of sharing with u all- A lady in her early thirties had come for consultation . She had series of health issues( personal) and she was totally depressed. Her personal life was a complete mess with lots of disturbing situations to deal everyday. She looked almost like a person ready to do something drastic anytime. I was very much concerned about her. To begin with we started with therapeutic Yoga where I emphasised on lots of breathing exercises for her body which was in pain  and deep relaxation techniques with positive healing affirmations to calm her mind. I could feel that there was something else missing in her treatment. That is when it struck me that she could do volunteering work for kids. it took lots of convincing from my side to make her feel comfy on volunteering her precious time. Finally with the support of my friends , we took her to an organisation Sahasra Deepika where there are 60 sweet girls and all are from an

Are our Priorities right?

Take a few moment of your time today to check whether our priorities are right and going in the right way . We women sometimes get so caught in the mad race of being busy and going to work by justifying our qualification, our years of hardwork to get that "so called name" in the society and also approval from parents that we become blind to see the present priorities. Why do we go to work when it is not absolutely financially essential ? Friends, have we thought about it... We work so much at our work place, house ,multitasking , managing kids studies, clothes, etc etc. phew...the list is endless. Even after juggling all of this with the best of our abilities,, there is little satisfaction and at the end of the day , one statement from the kids or our dear spouse that "you are always busy" makes us guilty. We wonder at that time....why are we working so hard actually......  Hmm......what are we missing here....  A beautiful quote which I read recently "
