Bottle gourd Ragi Dosa




Ragi/finger millet is a popular grain in Karnataka and some parts of North India. Due to its immense health benefits, it has now created awareness to lots of people around the world. For non- ragi eaters, it will be recommended to include Ragi in your diet atleast once or twice in a week. Prepare interesting and tasty recipes so that all are benefitted in your family.Finger millet contains important amino acids such as, isoleucine, leucine, methionine and phenyl alanine that are not present in other starchy meals. It has the highest amount of calcium (344 mg %) and potassium (408 mg %). Ragi is a great source of iron making it beneficial for individuals with low hemoglobin levels
Due to the high polyphenol and dietary fiber content in finger millet, regular consumption is known to reduce the risk of diabetes mellitus and gastrointestinal tract disorders.

This veggie Ragi dosa is very versatile as you can do a mix and match with green leafy veggies, cucumber, ash gourd, bottle gourd, carrot, cabbage.
A wholesome nutritious breakfast meal for you!!!



Ingredients:
·      Ragi flour- 1 cup
·      Oats- 1 cup
·      Rice flour- 1 cup
·      Grated Lauki(bottle gourd) – 1 cup( you can add little less too)
·      Green chillies- chop finely or just grind in a mixie
·      Buttermilk- 1 cup(preferably little sour)
·      Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp chopped finely
·      Jeera- 1 tsp
·      Crushed black pepper – ½ to 1 tsp
·      Onions- 1 chopped finely(optional)
·      Cooking soda- 1 small pinch
Method:
·      Mix all the above ingredients. Add required amount of water to the batter to get the dropping consistency to prepare dosa.
·      This dosa batter cannot be spread like a regular dosa . It has to prepared like rawa dosa.
Tip to prepare this dosa: Heat a non stick tawa/iron griddle, take a little batter in a ladle and start filling it from the outer corners of the tawa to the inside in the form of a thin dosa. Basically you are not spreading the dosa with the back of the ladle , but just pouring the batter slowly . Get more tips from you tube. It is not as complicated as you think J

·      Instead of lauki, you can add grated cucumber or chopped methi/drumstick leaves/ amaranth leaves/dill, only onions and lots of coriander leaves, finely chopped capsicum, etc.
