Recipe of Black urad ki daal
Ingredients:
• Split black gram with skin- ½ cup
• Chana daal- ½ cup
• Green chilli slit- 1
• Cumin seeds- 1tsp
• Garlic and ginger chopped- 2 tsp each
• Onion- 1medium- thinly sliced
• Asafoetida(hing)- ¼ tsp
• Tomato- 1 medium
• Kashmri Red chilli powder- According to your spice level
• Milk- 1 cup
• Crushed Black pepper- ½ tsp
Method
• Pressure cook both the daals with salt and turmeric powder, slit green chilli and water till well cooked.
• Take a wide pan. Heat oil. Add hing, jeera(cumin), garlic, ginger. Sauté.
• Then add sliced onions. Sauté till onions are transluscent.
• Add chopped tomato and red chilli powder. Sauté till tomatoes are well cooked.
• Add the cooked daal. Boil. Mash it slightly.let this boil for bout 3to5 minutes on medium flame. Add more water if necessary.
• Lower the flame, then add milk. Mash again. Let it boil for about a minute.
• Add freshly crushed black pepper(coarsely ground for good taste).
• Daal is ready to be served with cooked Basmati rice and little melted ghee on top.
